Hosur: It has been reported that additional income to milk producers in villages around Hosur has increased to Rs 13 lakh through the milk procurement scheme of Srinivasan Services Trust, the social welfare arm of TVS Motor Company.

Around 11,000 women earn their livelihood through livestock. To strengthen this great initiative, the National Dairy Development Board is implementing a comprehensive animal husbandry program to train its staff. In this way, the trained workers educate the rural women in these areas on how to effectively manage their livestock.
As an extension of this initiative, Srinivasan Services Trust has announced a joint venture with Sreeja Mahila Milk Producer Company Limited, the world’s largest women-run dairy in Tirupati. The primary objective of this collaborative initiative is to implement a fair and transparent milk procurement system to ensure the welfare and benefits of dairy farmers and to create opportunities for them to engage in trade in organized markets.
Launched on September 1 last, the project aims to positively revolutionize the economic environment of 30 remote villages in and around Hosur region. As an initial phase, the project has been set up to set up 30 milk collection centers to benefit 300 farmers in 30 villages. Over the next two years, the scheme aims to expand the scheme to benefit around 1,000 farmers in the region.
As of now, 26 milk collection centers are operational. 279 milk producers are benefiting from these milk collection centres. The selling price here has increased to Rs 48 per liter for certain farmers. It is noted that this price was earlier Rs 18-26 per litre. As a result, farmers are now earning 25% to 30% more per litre. As a result, the additional monthly income of a farmer has increased to 3 thousand rupees.
