G Sudhakaran defended in the report
The CPM has decided to launch an inquiry against G Sudhakaran in connection with the election campaign in Ambalapuzha. It was clear that action would be taken at the CPM state committee meeting held yesterday at the AKG Center to review the Assembly election results. The Ambalapuzha review report approved by the State Secretariat was presented at the State Committee meeting. According to the report, there was a failure in the election campaign. G Sudhakaran did not attend the district committee meeting held after the election review meeting.
An inquiry will be held against G Sudhakaran
A commission comprising state secretariat members Elamaram Kareem and KJ Thomas will probe senior leader G Sudhakaran on a complaint that there was a serious breach in the election campaign in Ambalapuzha. The probe comes as the CPM has confirmed that there was a fall in the election campaign in Ambalapuzha. H Salam Sudhakaran, who won from the constituency, was sharply criticized. He had said that Sudhakaran had stayed away from the election campaigns in the constituency.
Action will be taken in more constituencies
The CPM has decided to assess the situation in all the winning and losing constituencies and take action. There will be face-to-face actions. Defeats in sitting seats will also be assessed separately. Allegations related to the defeat in Kundara, where Minister J Mersikuttyamma suffered a setback, will also be discussed. Defeats in Pala and Kalpetta seats are likely to result in draconian action.
The allegations against Sudhakaran are as follows
This time G Sudhakaran lost his way in Ambalappuzha after the party decided to follow the two term term. He withdrew from campaigning after the CPM position committee announced H Salam as its candidate. The local leadership of the CPM was even worried that the stance of the senior leader would lead to defeat. In Alappuzha, it was alleged at the district committee meeting that G Sudhakaran left when Thomas Isaac was with him all the time in the election campaign and work. In the first phase, a poster appeared against Salam. Sudhakaran did not respond at this stage. Salam had made it clear that he did not respond even when the propaganda that he was an SDPI member was strong. The district leadership had said that such a response came from the leader who was to lead the campaign in the constituency.
Action in Pala and Kalpetta?
The respective district committees will look into the setbacks in Pala and Kalpetta that shocked the CPM. This was decided by the State Secretariat. There will be detailed inspections at Wayanad and Kottayam district level. Leaders from the two districts had opposed the CPM state committee meeting alleging that the election campaign in these constituencies had failed. The leaders said there were no irregularities in the election campaign or other activities. But due to pressure from the Kerala Congress MLA, the CPM may take further action on the defeat in Pala.
