Ubisoft recently announced that the long-awaited remake of “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” will see the light of day in 2026. This ambitious project is developed by Ubisoft Montreal, with the support of several affiliated studios, including Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Bucharest , Ubisoft Paris and Ubisoft Pune. The official title of the game will simply be “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time”, abandoning the previously planned “Remake” suffix. The original version of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time came out in 2003 and left an indelible mark on the world of video games thanks to innovative gameplay, a compelling plot and charismatic characters.
The game is notable for the protagonist’s ability to manipulate time, offering players the ability to rewind, speed up or slow down the action, adding a unique strategic dimension to the gameplay dynamics. Despite the release date announcement, Ubisoft has not yet revealed which platforms the game will be available on. Ubisoft also announced that the new “Mask of Darkness” DLC for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be released in September 2024, with a new expansion to the main story. Right now, however, players can explore the free “Divine Trials” update, which introduces 22 expert challenges accessible through the Hall of Memorials. These increasingly difficult challenges include new stages with platforming, puzzles and combat, culminating in reworked boss battles. Overcoming these challenges will earn you new amulets and outfits.
