The above arrested person, Douglas Thrams (23 years old), posted many videos on the TikTok application since January 20, when Mr. Trump took office to become the 47th president of the United States. On January 22, Thrams threatened violence against the government, according to AFP citing a criminal complaint on January 24.
“Every US government building needs to be bombed immediately,” Thrams said in a TikTok video.
Referring to Mr. Trump, Thrams continued: “He needs to be assassinated and this time, don’t… miss.” Mr. Trump was the target of two assassination attempts last year, including one that occurred at his campaign rally in the city of Butler, Pennsylvania. That assassination attempt injured Mr. Trump’s ear.
In another TikTok video, Thrams holds a rifle and taps it, according to an agent with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
US judge blocked Mr. Trump’s order restricting citizenship by birthplace
Thrams, from the US state of Indiana, was arrested on January 24, accused of “making threats to cause injury”.
There is currently no information on President Trump’s reaction to Thrams’ arrest on the above charges.
On January 20, President Trump signed an executive order allowing a 75-day pause on the enforcement of the law banning TikTok in the US. The executive order delayed implementation of the Protect Americans from Applications Controlled by Foreign Adversaries Act. TikTok closed in the US late on January 18 as the deadline approached, leaving millions of users unable to use the application. After that, Mr. Trump promised to issue an executive order as soon as he took office to delay the ban to allow time for “agreement” and TikTok restored service in the US on January 19.
