Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with his Tunisian counterpart Kais Said. This is stated in the message of the Public Relations Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration.
The latest events in the North African state, bilateral relations and regional topics were discussed.
During the conversation, President Erdogan noted that maintaining stability, internal peace and tranquility in Tunisia is extremely important for the well-being of the region.
The head of state said that Ankara is closely following the development of the situation in Tunisia.
The Turkish leader expressed confidence that “Tunisia will successfully overcome this difficult period and continue its path with an even more firm gait.”
President Erdogan pointed out that the continuation of the Tunisian parliament, despite all the difficulties, is important for democracy both in Tunisia and throughout the region.
The protection of democracy, the guarantee of freedoms and the observance of the rule of law in Tunisia are of paramount importance, the Turkish leader emphasized.
