US President Donald Trump is campaigning loudly for the upcoming presidential election. But recently he left an interview suddenly in the middle. Trump was interviewing for 60 Minutes of CBC News at the White House with journalist Leslie Staal when he stopped the interview about 45 minutes later. Trump was also to shoot a segment with Vice President Mike Pence. After the interview, Trump posted a short video on Twitter, accusing the journalist stall of not wearing a mask.
According to The New York Times (NYT) report, Trump spent more than 45 minutes with journalists and network crew, and the president’s aides were not expected to finish the interview. So Trump stopped the interview mid-way and refused to participate in the ‘Walk and Talk’ segment with Vice President Mike Pence.
According to CNN’s report, presidential candidate Joe Biden and vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris have also interviewed for 60 Minutes. While Biden and Harris shot their interviews separately, Trump and Pence were to come together through a ‘walk and talk’ session. But Trump stopped the interview before shooting this segment.
According to the NYT report, people related to the case said that Trump was upset with the journalist’s questions.
Trump’s attack on journalist over ‘mask‘
Trump himself, who has mocked the ‘mask’ on several occasions, accused the journalist stall of not wearing a mask. Trump shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the Twitter interview on Twitter. With this, he wrote, “Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes not wearing a mask in the White House after her interview with me. Much more to come.”
CNN quoted a source as saying that Stahl is with his producers in the tweet. This is just after the interview ends. He had his mask on while coming to the White House and just before the interview started.
In another tweet, Trump described the interview as ‘fake and biased’. He wrote that “I am pleased to inform you that, for the sake of accuracy in reporting, I am considering posting my interview with Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes, PRIOR TO AIRTIME! This will be done so that everybody can get a glimpse of what a FAKE and BIASED interview is all about.”
Trump said that everyone should compare this terrible Electoral Intrusion with the recent interviews of Sleepy Joe Biden!
With the election date approaching, Trump is facing sharp questions in the interview. Voting for the presidential election is to be held on 3 November in the US.
