Potential for new low pressures; Isolated heavy showers in the state, Yellow Alert

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast new low pressure in the Bay of Bengal tomorrow and another day in the Arabian Sea. New low pressure area is likely to form in the southern Andaman Sea in the Bay of Bengal tomorrow. West-northwest low pressure system is likely to enter the Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours and intensify into a severe low pressure area.

New low pressure is likely to form off the coast of Maharashtra in the Middle East Arabian Sea by Wednesday. Normal rainfall in Kerala today and tomorrow. Isolated showers are also expected, the Central Meteorological Department said.

Yellow Alert

• 29-11-2021: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad.
• 30-11-2021: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the districts. The possibility of isolated heavy rains is forecast. Heavy rainfall is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

In some districts, the Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, but in the hilly areas, there is a possibility of isolated thundershowers.

The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.

According to the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Global Forecast System (GFS) weather model, there is a possibility of widespread normal rainfall in Kerala today and tomorrow.

According to the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) weather model, there is a possibility of widespread normal rainfall in Kerala today and tomorrow. Isolated showers likely in North Kerala

According to private agency IBM weather, there is a possibility of widespread normal rainfall in Kerala today.
