The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be attended by dignitaries and special guests, including leaders from India’s neighbouring countries and the Indian Ocean region. In the recently concluded 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP could not secure a majority on its own, but the party-led coalition won 293 out of 543 seats. Congress got 99 seats in this general election. The majority figure in the lower house i.e. Lok Sabha is 272. Due to the below-expected performance in the elections, the BJP’s seat count has come down from 303 to 240, making the party dependent on its alliance partners, especially TDP and JDU to form the government, which marks the return of coalition government at the Center, ending single party dominance after a decade.
