PM Modi jokingly told Neeraj Chopra, who is busy preparing for the Paris Olympics, that the churma has not arrived yet. On this, Neeraj Chopra promised to feed PM Modi churma. PM Modi asked athlete Priyanka Goswami whether she is taking her Balkrishna with her to the Olympics or not.
PM Modi wants to eat churma made by Neeraj’s mother
Taking a dig at Neeraj who was connected to the online conversation, Prime Minister Modi said that your churma has not arrived yet. Neeraj hesitantly replied that Sir will bring churma this time. Last time in Delhi, there was sugar churma but I will feed you churma made of desi ghee and jaggery from Haryana. On this, the Prime Minister said that I want to eat churma made by your mother.
The Prime Minister wished Neeraj Chopra to stay healthy and avoid injury. Earlier, Neeraj said that I have played very few tournaments this year because I got injured in between. Practice is going very well and I will try to give 100 percent for the country. Tokyo was my first Olympics in which I won gold and the reason for that was that I had no fear in my mind and had faith in my training. He said that I would like to tell all the players to give their best without fearing anyone. If we are working so hard away from home, then we can defeat anyone. Prime Minister Modi said that you gave very useful information. May you have good health, may you not suffer any new injury.
I dream of winning a medal in Paris Olympics too: PV Sindhu
Last time, while welcoming the players after returning from Tokyo Olympics, Modi had fed Chopra churma and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu ice cream at his residence. Sindhu, who won silver in Rio Olympics and bronze in Tokyo, said that this is her third Olympics and after winning silver and bronze, now the aim is to change the colour of the medal. She said that this time I am going with a lot of experience and will return with a better medal. I will tell the new players that do not take pressure and focus while believing in themselves.
The Prime Minister asked Priyanka Goswami, a jockey who was practising in Switzerland, whether she was taking Balkrishna with her this time as well. To this, Goswami replied, “Yes. This is his second Olympics as well.” Goswami had taken the idol of Laddu Gopal in her hand while receiving the medal after winning the silver medal in 10000 meter jockeying at the Commonwealth Games and had dedicated her medal to him.
When Priyanka congratulated Modi on becoming the Prime Minister for the third time, the players welcomed it with applause. On this occasion, men’s hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh said that the history of hockey has been very glorious and efforts are being made to bring medals again after Tokyo. Very good facilities are being provided. Prime Minister Modi told them that the maximum pressure is on hockey players because every child of the country thinks that this is our game and how are we losing in it. It requires a lot of hard work but we are sure that you will win.
First-time shooter Ramita Jindal was asked about her experience. She was also asked where she was trained or if anyone else in her family is involved in sports. Wrestler Anant Panghal also said that she will leave no stone unturned to win a medal in wrestling.
Fourteen-year-old swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, the youngest member of the Indian contingent, also promised the Prime Minister the best performance. He asked archer Deepika Kumari, who is going to the Olympics for the fourth time, what message she would give to those playing Olympics for the first time. He also asked that she must have learnt a lot in three attempts, so what new did she learn for preparation this time or is she going with the routine preparation. Boxer Nikhat Zareen said that this is her first Olympics and she wants to live up to the expectations of the countrymen. Shooter Sifat Kaur and Manu Bhaker, players who emerged from Khelo India, also shared their experiences.
India will bid to host the Olympics in 2036
Confident that India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympics will be successful, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the players going to Paris Olympics to share their experience of the arrangements in Paris to strengthen this claim. Talking to the players going to Paris Olympics, PM Modi said that the information shared by them will be useful in strengthening the bid to host the 2036 Olympics. The Prime Minister said that India is trying to host the Olympics in 2036. This creates an even bigger atmosphere and we are making efforts.
Experts are working on preparing the infrastructure. He said that I will request you to take stock of the arrangements there, not before the Olympics but after. You people should also see what the arrangements are there after the games. The inputs received from the players will be useful for 2036. If you come and see this, it will be very convenient for us. The full video of Prime Minister Modi’s conversation with the players was released from his office on Friday.Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha were also present in the talks.
Paris Olympics will start from 26 July
The Paris Olympics will be played from 26 July to 11 August. India’s best performance so far has been in the Tokyo Olympics, winning seven medals including Neeraj Chopra’s historic gold in javelin throw. More than 100 players from India have qualified for the Olympics, including 21 shooters. India has repeatedly expressed its desire to host the Olympics, which has also received the support of International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach. However, India’s path will not be easy as Qatar and Saudi Arabia may also be in the race. The decision on the host of the Olympics 2036 is unlikely to come before next year’s IOC elections in which a new president will be elected.
