After Shinzo Abe stepped down as Japan’s prime minister in 2020, Yoshihide Suga became prime minister. This is his first direct meeting with Prime Minister Modi since then. The meeting on the eve of the Quad Summit was between Narendra Modi and Yoshihide Suga. This Quad Summit is to be attended by India, Japan, Australia and USA.

In April 2021, Suga and Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation about cooperation in various fields. These included improved technology, improved skills, and the Covid 19 superhero. Suga’s visit to India was canceled in April due to a corona attack.
