How are beneficiaries identified?
The Centre has asked the state/UT governments to use the “existing land ownership system” to identify beneficiaries and transfer money to their accounts once the family details are uploaded on the PM-KISAN portal. It says that the responsibility of identifying eligible beneficiary farmers and uploading their details on the PM-KISAN portal rests entirely with the state governments. Once the application is made, the state/UT governments have the right to investigate the matter. Only if everything is found to be correct, the person is considered entitled to the benefit under this scheme.
