Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday distributed property cards (property sheets) to the people under the ‘svamitva scheme’. PM Modi inaugurated property card distribution through video conference.
After this the state governments will distribute the real card to the people.

PM Modi asked him what benefit he has got from getting property cards and ownership rights. Also, what problems did they have before this.
Some people said that having strong documents of their property has helped them in taking loan from the bank.
What is svamitva scheme?
The Central Government Proprietary Plan was launched on the day of National Panchayati Day (24 April 2020). This scheme has been implemented under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The full name of this scheme is – Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas.
Under this, land is demarcated through drones. A digital map of every property within the boundary of villages is prepared by drone.
The objective of this scheme is to make a record of the ownership of people’s property in rural areas. People should be given a property card of their home and land. This is in a way a document of their ownership.
- Under this, records of every house and land of the village will be kept. The state governments will make these cards.
- People can use it in other works besides taking loans from banks.
- Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Tomar was also present in this video conference.
- Narendra Tomar informed that in the pilot phase of the scheme, these cards will be distributed to more than 1.25 lakh people from 763 villages of six states.
These states include Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Whose survey work has been completed. The ownership plan will be implemented in a phased manner over 4 years. In this, 6.62 lakh villages of the country are to be covered by 2024.
What did PM Modi say
After this, the Prime Minister congratulated the one lakh people who have received the ownership letter of their houses.
He said, “Today you have a right, there is a legal document that your house is yours, it will be yours. This scheme is going to bring historical changes in the villages of our country.
PM Modi also mentioned the birth dates of Nanaji Deshmukh and Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan. PM Modi said, “Raising the voice of the village and the poor has been a shared resolve of the life of JP and Nanaji. I am confident that the ownership plan will also become a great medium to end many disputes in our villages. ”
“Along with the record of property, loans are easily available from the bank, employment-self-employment routes are made. When there is a record of property, new avenues of investment are opened.
He told that there are so many youth of the village who want to do something on their own. But despite being home, he had to face many problems in getting loan from the bank in the name of his house. Showing the property card made under the ownership plan has ensured easy credit from banks.
PM Modi said that the ownership plan will be strengthened by our efforts to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system for the last 6 years.
