It is a currency free and paperless system based on e-vouchers received via QR code and SMS. The voucher will go directly to the beneficiary’s mobile. The e-rupee was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India.

Initially, the beneficiaries of health care schemes will benefit from e-Rupee. That is, if anyone wants to make the vaccine available free of cost to hundreds of people from private vaccination centers, they can use e-Rupee. The Prime Minister said that if 100 people were given e-vouchers, the vouchers they received could only be used for vaccination.
