Paula Badosa beat the Russian Daria Kasatkina 6-2 and 6-2 and qualified to play the final of the Sydney tournament (WTA 500) against the Czech Barbora Krejcikova, fourth in the world ranking of Professional Tennis Players. Kasatkina had beaten the Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza in the quarterfinals.

Badosa, 24, who will face Ajla Tomljanovic in the first round of the Australian Open that begins on Monday, aspires earlier in Sydney to his third title this season after those he won in Belgrade (WTA 250) and Indian Wells ( WTA 1,000).

Krejcikova, after saving six match points, won the semifinal of the Sydney tournament against Estonian Aett Kontaveit 0-6, 6-4, 7-6. Badosa has won the two previous duels she played against the Czech player, in Madrid and Indian Wells. “I don’t think that’s very important,” clarifies the Spanish. “These types of players always find solutions, as they showed in their semi-final. I have been very solid and aggressive in my game. I have executed the plan perfectly. I don’t think anything should change in the final. We both arrived at a good time. It has been a difficult year, but I want to give my best in all the Grand Slams”.
