Early parliamentary elections are being held in Iraq on Sunday, October 10 amid a protracted political and economic crisis in the country.
Security measures have been strengthened around polling stations. Polling stations will close at 20.00 local time.
Mobile phones will not be allowed in polling stations.
Airports and land borders will be closed until the end of the voting.
3,249 candidates are fighting for 329 seats in the country’s parliament. 877 foreign observers will observe the voting.
The right to vote was received by 24 million people out of 40 million of the country’s population.
The Iraqi High Election Commission will announce the voting results within 24 hours.
