After qualifying for the final in men’s football, the women’s football players will seek to secure another medal for Spain against a Brazil led by the legendary player Marta Vieira. The day will open with Spain’s flag bearer at these games, Marcus Cooper, competing alongside Saúl Craviotto in canoeing. In water polo, the women’s team will play for a place in the semi-final against Canada; and in field hockey, the men’s team will do the same against the Netherlands. It is also an important day for Spanish athletics. Esther Guerrero, Águeda Marqués and Marta Pérez will compete in the 1500m, Asier Martínez will contest the 110m hurdles repechage and Fátima Diame and Tessy Ebosele will take part in the long jump qualification.
