Steps to get PAN card digitally on your email:The Central Government recently announced the PAN 2.0 project. The budget of this project is Rs 1,435 crore and it redesigns PAN/TAN services to improve the digital experience. The objective of this initiative is to improve convenience and security, under which e-PAN card with QR code will be sent free of cost to the registered mail address of the applicants. However, the cardholder will have to apply for this. It is being told that to get a physical PAN card with QR code, people will have to apply and will also have to spend Rs 50 to get a special type of card.
PAN card with QR code is being issued to people for the last several years. The government has said in a statement that QR code in PAN card is not a new feature and it has been included in PAN card since 2017-18. There is a plan to continue this under PAN 2.0 project also. However, some improvements will be made in it once the project starts. The PAN 2.0 project will be continued with some significant changes (dynamic QR code that will display the latest data in the PAN database). PAN holders who have an old PAN card without QR code will have the option to apply for a new card with QR code under the existing PAN 1.0 eco-system as well as the PAN 2.0 project.
