New Delhi:
Pakistan has currently suspended the import of crude oil from Russia. Pakistan says that less petrol-diesel is being produced from the crude oil coming from Russia and more furnace oil is being produced. Pakistan’s refineries claim that crude oil imported from Russia produces 20 more furnace oil than crude oil imported from Arab countries.

The cost of petrol and diesel is high. Furnace oil is cheap. On this basis, Pakistan has come to the conclusion that crude oil from Russia is a loss-making deal. That’s why he has refused to take oil from Russia for the time being.
On the basis of sources in Pakistan, it is also being claimed that less kerosene oil and jet fuel for ships is being produced from Russian crude oil. This is economically harmful for the country. That’s why the work of refining Russian oil in oil refinery plants has been stopped. This is when Pakistan’s Minister of State for Petroleum Mussadiq Mallick, who has now become a former minister after the dissolution of the National Assembly, urged not to stop Russian oil refining.
According to the information received from Pakistan, the last consignment of crude oil imported from Russia arrived at the port of Karachi on 11 and 26 June. Since then no ship from Russia has come to Pakistan with oil. Pakistan has kept secret that how much oil it imported from Russia and at what cost.
Nothing has been said about when Pakistan will start taking oil from Russia again. Information is also coming that Pakistan wants discount on oil from Russia. If Russia is ready for this then import can start. By the way, Russia’s Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov has said on June 17 that Pakistan will not be given any special discount on oil.
Pakistan itself is going through an economic crisis. Along with the shortage of food and drink here, there is also an energy problem. There is severe shortage of electricity. Many power plants are dependent on imported oil only. It is obvious that Russia’s oil has also contributed to this. Obviously, energy production will also be affected by stopping imports.
Since the start of the Ukraine war, many economic sanctions have been imposed on Russia by the US and the western countries. This also includes capping on the price of oil. It remains to be seen whether Russia, which is suffering huge economic losses due to the war, gives a discount according to the demand of Pakistan, which is going through an economic crisis.
