Kuşadası, one of the important tourism destinations of Turkey, hosts cultural tourism as well as sea tourism with Güvercinada Castle and Kadıkalesi Ruins on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
Drawing attention with its bays and nature, Dilek Peninsula Büyük Menderes Delta National Park also hosts millions of local and foreign tourists every year.
Didim, on the other hand, is among the preferences of tourists with the world-famous Altınkum Beach, the historical Temple of Apollo and the ancient city of Miletus, known as the “city of philosophers”.
Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Umut Tuncer told Anadolu Agency (AA) that all the pre-season works at the facilities have been completed and the hotels are now welcoming their guests.
Stating that they have crowned qualified and safe tourism with these works, Tuncer said, “We prepared much better for 2021 with the experience brought by the previous year. The sector kept its motivation very high. We succeeded in bringing our facilities in Kuşadası and Didim to a highly qualified point. We listened closely to the demands of the sector and were interested. ” said.
Emphasizing that all the hotels in Didim and Kuşadası are open, Tuncer continued:
“Currently, we have foreign guests, mainly from Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine. The occupancy rate of our hotels in Didim is over 90 percent. Reservations are almost closed until Eid al-Adha. It is also at 80 percent in Kuşadası district. In Kuşadası and Didim. We estimate that the hotels will reach 100 percent occupancy as soon as possible. We hosted approximately 1.5 million tourists in 2019. Despite the pandemic, we expect to exceed 1 million this year.”
“Our hotel occupancy is increasing”
Tacettin Özden, Vice President of Turkish Hoteliers Federation, who is also the President of Kuşadası Hoteliers and Investors Association, stated that they are in a better situation compared to last year.
Noting that tourism is getting better every day, Özden said:
“With vaccination, countries lift the restrictions on Turkey and more people come. Therefore, our hotel occupancy rates increase. We have hotels that reach 90 percent according to the hotel’s condition, price policy and marketing. Every day it goes a little further. Reservation is a little more last-minute. “Last year, when Spain and Greece were not fully opened, we encountered tourists who had never been to Turkey before and did not know our country. We encountered many people who said, ‘What did we miss,’ in that process. We think we have won those people. This year, too, a large part of them came back. We see that Turkey’s service, service and price ratio is in favor of the guest.”
Burak Karakaya, the operator of the 5-star Aquasis Deluxe Resort Hotel in Didim, also reported that they currently have a 94 percent occupancy rate.
Expressing that they are more experienced this year compared to 2020, Karakaya said, “We put ourselves in a system where both customers and hoteliers know what to do with the safe tourism certificate developed by the Ministry. Therefore, the hotels opened early this year. With the return of early opening, turnovers exceeded last year. and occupancy. It looks like this year will end 20 percent better than last year.” made its assessment.
