New Delhi: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has said that the Supreme Court’s criticism of the Uttar Pradesh government over the atrocities against farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri will be an opportunity for those who want to oust Yogi Adityanath from the post of Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is currently in dire straits, Subramanian Swamy said on Twitter. “The way forward for Yogi is to become the Chief Minister or the son of Amit Shah’s junior minister,” he said on Twitter.

The Supreme Court on Monday slammed the UP police for killing farmers in a car accident at a farmers’ strike in Lakhimpur. The court asked the UP government to submit a detailed report on the incident before October 27. The UP government has filed an affidavit in the court in a sealed envelope on the incident.

Chief Justice NV Ramana had told advocate Harish Salve, appearing for the UP government, that he had waited till the last minute for the affidavit and had to wait till night. However, Harish Salve replied that the report was submitted in a sealed cover. However, the Chief Justice asked how the court could look into the matter if the report was submitted at the last minute.
