A few days ago the subject of “DNA testing to prove paternity” returned to the headlines. A 27-year-old woman who lives in Portugal, named Diane, said she is the biological daughter of singer Leonardo and is trying to contact the artist to do a DNA test. She was born in the interior of São Paulo and went to Europe to work as a model.
Diane shared on her social media that she was adopted by a family when she was a baby. She also said that her biological mother, who is treating terminal cancer, revealed in a letter that her real father is the singer Leonardo.
Leonardo, who is the father of six children, has not yet commented and his advisor said that so far he has not even received a formal request to take the test. In any case, everything indicates that, if Leonardo receives the request, he will do the test without any problems.
While reading this story, I remembered the merchant Ricardo Rocha, 48 years old, who claims to be the son of Gugu Liberato and went to court asking for a DNA test to prove paternity.
The media covered the case extensively throughout June, but the case fell out of the headlines and we didn’t know what happened. Where is the DNA test? He hasn’t done it yet? Why? Gugu’s three heirs didn’t want to offer material?
The answer came at the beginning of October. Ricardo Rocha wants to do DNA compatibility tests not with his three children, but with Gugu’s brothers and mother. And do you know what the allegation is? Ricardo Rocha raised the hypothesis that João Augusto, Marina and Sofia were not Gugu’s biological children.
“What do you mean?” you might be asking yourself.
I answer: Rose Miriam’s three children were created by artificial insemination, in procedures carried out by Roger Abdelmassih, who was accused of abusing countless patients and carrying out genetic manipulations. Based on this fact, Ricardo Rocha raises the possibility that Gugu is not the father of the three heirs and that, therefore, he does not want to carry out comparative tests with them but rather with genetic material from Gugu’s mother and brothers.
Ricardo claims that his objective is to have the surname Liberato on his certificate, but he does not deny that, if paternity is proven, he wants his share of Gugu’s inheritance as his son.
Considering that we are in October 2023 and that it has not yet been decided who will donate genetic material for the exams, this story still has a long way to go.
In these real-life stories, which we follow as if they were soap operas, it is possible that we will find out if Diane is Leonardo’s seventh daughter long before we know if Ricardo is Gugu’s fourth son.
We wish everyone involved patience, tolerance, humanity and empathy, regardless of the results. For now, the applause goes to João Guilherme who, faced with the possibility of having Diane as another sister, commented: “I hope so!”
