On the afternoon of January 8, the Southwest football tournament qualifiers Adolescent The 3rd Vietnamese Students – 2025 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2025) officially kicked off at Can Tho Stadium. The opening match of the qualifying round will take place at 1:30 p.m., and is a confrontation between Mekong University and Dong Thap University.
Cuu Long University and Dong Thap University are both “away teams”. Another similarity is that everyone receives great attention from the school and has high determination at this year’s tournament. As expected, this match was not only evenly matched on the field but also had an interesting “tit for tat” battle in the stands.
Dong Thap University fans have shown that the distance of hundreds of kilometers is not a problem once they are determined to cheer for their “family team”. The students from the land of pink lotus made a big impression when bringing drums, trumpets, banners, and slogans to stir up the atmosphere. The fans clearly showed their enthusiasm and were always full of energy. Every offensive ball from the home team receives applause and cheers to boost the players’ spirit.
Luong Phu Quy (19 years old), a fan of Dong Thap University, said that this is the first time Dong Thap University has participated in a football tournament. Adolescent Students should receive a lot of attention from fans. Therefore, when the school shared information, the number of people who registered to cheer was very large. However, due to limited means, this match the school only organized 4 buses carrying about 150 people to cheer.
Quy is a loyal “fan” of the Dong Thap University team. He has watched the team participate in many tournaments, experiencing many different atmospheres. However, with the football tournament Adolescent Students give me a very special feeling. Before setting foot at Can Tho Stadium, Quy did not think a student tournament would be organized professionally, majestically, and receive so much attention from fans.
It is worth mentioning that in terms of expertise, the teams are quite equal in level, so the cheering atmosphere is not one-sided but the emotions “up and down” are very nervous. “To meet your needs, in the next match, the cheering group will give priority to those who have not had the opportunity to go to watch. It is true that traveling far is tiring, but what you experience at Can Tho Stadium is truly worth it. “Hopefully, the Dong Thap University team will go deep in this year’s tournament so everyone will have the opportunity to cheer more,” Quy shared.
On the other side of the stands, Mekong University was not shy in front of the opposing team’s fans. You don’t have many cheering “accessories” like Dong Thap University, so you should take advantage of the applause and cheers to “pair up” with your team. Mr. Bui Le Hung, Cuu Long University’s coaching staff, said that the school arranged 2 cars to transport more than 100 fans to Can Tho Stadium, including many international students from Laos and Cambodia. Many of you went to cheer last year and signed up again this year because you were very impressed with the tournament.
According to Mr. Hung, the school not only facilitates transportation for fans to watch the match but also supports each student with 50,000 VND. The main purpose of this money is to support the cost of drinking water, to help you recharge your energy to be more “heated”. “This year, Mekong University is in a difficult group, so you really want to accompany the players. Although when traveling back to school, many of you still study computer science and English at night. However, who has participated? Everyone cheered as enthusiastically as possible so that the players wouldn’t feel mentally defeated,” Mr. Hung shared.
