Team India had taken 3 wickets of Australia in the first 10 overs. But during this period 15 extra runs were also given. Due to this, there was no pressure of runs on the Kangaroo batsmen. Team India gave 18 runs as extra in the match.
India faced disappointment in the final match of World Cup 2023. Australia defeated them by 6 wickets in the match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With this, India missed the golden opportunity of becoming the only country to win two ODI World Cup titles on its own soil. The victory which the whole country was expecting turned into a painful defeat. The tears of joy that were to be seen in the eyes of the Indian players were instead seen of sadness as the Kangaroos won the final match and broke India’s dream of winning the trophy.
