Omicron confirmed in Malappuram; Passenger arrives at Karipur airport

Kozhikode: It has been reported that Covid 19 Omicron variant has been confirmed for one more person in the state. Omikron confirmed that the passenger had arrived in Kerala from Sharjah via Karipur Airport. He returned home from abroad on the 14th of this month.

According to the health department, the 36-year-old from Mangalore was diagnosed with the disease. The government said his condition was “satisfactory” and was being monitored. He is reportedly undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College.

Omicon was also confirmed for the couple in Ernakulam district yesterday. The disease was confirmed in those who arrived in Kerala from the UAE via Nedumbassery Airport. There are about seven people in their primary contact list. The state government is on high alert as more and more people in the state are confirming Omicron. The Ernakulam District Collector has informed that all those coming from abroad must be under observation for 14 days. Additional control is in case of confirmation of the disease to those coming to Kerala from non-high risk countries. The District Collector has directed those coming from abroad to remain under self-monitoring.

At the same time, the central government has issued a stern warning in the situation where more than 100 people in the country have been confirmed to be Omicron. According to the Central Government, the number of Omicron cases in the country is estimated to be around 1.4 million per day, depending on the prevalence of the disease in the UK and France. The Central Government also warns that the Omicron variant is on the rise. Covid 19 Task Force Chief Dr. VK Paul warned.

In France, there are currently up to 65,000 confirmed positive cases a day. The Central Panel of Experts has estimated that if this situation prevails in India, the population of Omikron would increase to 14 lakh cases a day.
