The first gold medal of the Vietnamese sports delegation at ASIAD 19 was named after shooter Pham Quang Huy. In the men’s 10m air pistol event, despite facing many experienced opponents, Quang Huy performed excellently and stably to be crowned champion.

Pham Quang Huy’s teacher is shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh, who won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. After retiring, Hoang Xuan Vinh pursued a coaching career and became a mentor to a new generation of shooters, including Pham Quang. Huy.

With the gold medal won at ASIAD 19, Pham Quang Huy was awarded nearly 1 billion VND. The shooter born in 1996 was also praised by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung in a letter praising the Vietnamese sports delegation.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, Quang Huy’s success will bring a spiritual boost to Vietnamese athletes to compete better in the coming days at ASIAD 19.
