Around 60 Indian passengers were stranded for more than 13 hours at Kuwait International Airport on Sunday after their Gulf Air flight was diverted due to a technical glitch.
Passengers traveling on Gulf Air flight GF 005 from Mumbai to Manchester complained of facing inconvenience as the airline failed to provide food, accommodation or basic assistance during their long wait. The situation worsened when passengers expressed their complaints on social media, ultimately prompting the Indian Embassy in Kuwait to respond. On the other hand, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait said in a post on social media that they have taken up this matter with Gulf Air.
However, the airline has not given any statement on this. According to media reports, a passenger Arzoo Singh said that he asked for permission to enter the lounge, but the airport officials stopped him. He said that the passengers have been stranded for more than 13 hours.
Passenger Arju Singh shared his disappointment while talking to ANI. He said, “We raised the issue on social media, after which senior officials of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait reached out to the Indian passengers stranded at the airport.”
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said that the Gulf Air flight to Manchester finally departed at 0434 hours today, carrying the stranded Indian passengers and others. The embassy team was present on the ground till the departure of the flight.
