In a nod to memorable Nintendo World Championships events of the past, Nintendo has announced the launch of “Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition,” scheduled for July 18. Over 150 speedrun challenges will test players of all ages on classic NES games.
The new edition of the game celebrates the anniversary of the historic competition, held for the first time in 1990 and then repeated in 2015 and 2017. participants will be able to immerse themselves in iconic moments from NES blockbusterswith the ability to play legendary titles like “Super Mario Bros.”, “The Legend of Zelda”, and “Metroid”, as well as Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong and Kirby’s Adventureto name the best known.
The mode Quick challenges will allow players to set and beat their own personal bests in single challenges, unlocking new challenges and commemorative pins as they progress. For shared fun, there’s also a local Multiplayer mode that supports up to eight participants, perfect for friendly or family challenges. THE
Nintendo Switch Online members will also have exclusive access to the Global Tournaments mode, where they can compete in five different challenges weekly and climb the global leaderboards.

The highly anticipated “Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition – Set Deluxe” will be available on the same day. This exclusive package includes a physical copy of the game, five collectible pins, thirteen NES classic art cards, and a replica of the legendary gold NES Game Pak celebrating the 1990 event.
