Nigeria: PM Modi meets President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja, PM Modi receives ‘Grand Commander of the Order of Niger’ award
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nigeria today i.e. on Sunday. During this, he held bilateral talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Along with this, PM Modi talked to the Indian community and addressed them. PM Modi was warmly welcomed on this occasion. PM Modi invited NRIs to visit Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 and Kashi.

During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also honored by Nigeria on Sunday with its second highest national award – Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger Award. PM Modi has become the second foreign dignitary to receive this honour. Earlier, Queen Elizabeth is the only foreign dignitary to have been honored with this award, in 1969.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “…as said just now, this is the visit of an Indian Prime Minister after 17 years. It is a matter of great pleasure for me that I get the opportunity to visit Nigeria at the beginning of my third term…”
During this, PM Modi said, “I am confident that our talks today will add a new chapter to our relations. “Together we will continue to highlight the priorities of the Global South on the global stage and our combined efforts will bring us success.”
He said that India is the mother of democracy, while Nigeria is the largest democracy in Africa. Both our countries have equality of democracy. Both our countries have similarity in diversity. Both our countries have the energy of demography.”
