A oil exploitation project operated by Chinese company in Niger
The Niger authorities issued a deportation order of 3 Chinese director of the Chinese National Oil and Gas Group (CNPC), Soraz oil refinering company and WAPCO gas pipeline operator. All people named Niger have to leave Niger within 2 days.
Newsletter did not mention the cause of the decision, but Mr. Ibrahim Bana, a commentator who had close relationships with the Niger government, shared online that the exporters had “ignored” the request of the responsible for the implementation of Niger’s rights in oil exploitation activities.
In another decision, this time from the Niger Ministry of Tourism, the local government also withdrew the business license of the 4 -star Soluxe International Hotel by the Chinese business. The reason for withdrawing the license is because the Chinese side has “discrimination” and financial abnormalities.
The hotel was opened in 2015 and mainly provided services to the personnel of three Chinese companies whose director had just received the expulsion.
The Niger army took over the government in the mutiny in 2023 and announced that it would ensure its revenue from its mining and oil activities.
Oil Minister Sahabi Oumarou in February asked Soraz Company to plan to ensure that Niger people have seats in the management board, as well as pay more equal salary for domestic workers.
Niger is a water producing water but only filters only a small part of the output. Since the beginning of March, the country has been pushed into the situation of lack of gasoline at an unprecedented extent.
