New anti-COVID-19 mortality record recorded in Russia

The number of cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Russia per day increased by 21,379 to 7,376,374, the COVID-19 operational headquarters said on Friday.

Over the past day, 828 people have died due to coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation. Thus, the anti-death record has been updated since the beginning of the pandemic.

The previous anti-mortality record was set on August 26 – 820 – and repeated the day before.

For the fourth day in a row, the country has recorded more than 800 deaths due to the coronavirus.

The total number of deaths in the country since the start of the pandemic has reached 202,273.

6,574,608 people recovered from COVID-19 in Russia, including 15,828 in the last 24 hours.

In Moscow, over the past day, 2,893 new cases of infection have been identified. The number of deaths due to coronavirus in the Russian capital increased by 56 per day.


The coronavirus pandemic began with the detection of the first cases of pneumonia of unknown origin in the city of Wuhan in the Hubei province of central China at the end of December 2019.

On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) about the outbreak of unknown pneumonia.

On January 30, WHO recognized the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a public health emergency of international concern.

On February 11, 2020, the disease was named a new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

On March 11, 2020, WHO announced that the outbreak had become a pandemic.
