NEET UG 2024 Counselling:The counseling of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate i.e. NEET UG 2024 has been postponed till further orders. NEET UG counseling for All-India Quota (AIQ) seats was scheduled to begin from Saturday, July 6. According to a report by the reputed media organization The Indian Express, this update comes after the Supreme Court refused to postpone the NEET UG counseling, which was scheduled to begin today.
The Supreme Court will hear the case on July 8
This year, the NEET UG exam was conducted on 5 May. Complaints related to paper leak started coming in immediately after the exam. NTA released the results on 4 June. For the first time, 67 students scored 10 percent out of 100 in the exam, that is, they scored 720 out of 720 marks. After which the controversy of NEET UG exam started gaining momentum. Many candidates knocked the doors of the High Court and Supreme Court. In these petitions, the petitioners have alleged paper leak, some have demanded cancellation of the entire exam and re-conducting of the medical entrance exam, some have demanded an inquiry into the conduct of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Other issues related to the NEET UG exam have also been raised in these petitions. A bench headed by CJI Chandrachud will hear the NEET UG exam case in the Supreme Court on Monday, July 8. Apart from Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra will also be present in this bench.

On July 1, NTA released new scorecard for all the candidates
After the order of the Supreme Court, the grace marks given to 1563 candidates were removed and they were given the option to appear for the exam again. Out of 1563 candidates, 813 candidates appeared in the re-test conducted by the National Testing Agency on June 23 this year. 750 candidates were absent in this exam. NTA released the results of NEET UG re-test on July 1. Also, the revised results of about 23.33 lakh candidates who appeared in the NEET UG exam held on May 5, 2024 were released on July 1. That is, the results of all the children who appeared in the examination held on May 5 and June 23 were released afresh in the scorecard. After this, the number of toppers has come down from 67 to 61.

Congress demanded to conduct NEET UG exam again
The central government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court appealing not to cancel the NEET UG exam, for which some arguments and facts have been put forward. At the same time, the president of the main opposition party Mallikarjun Kharge said in a post on the social media platform X that the Modi government has told the Supreme Court that no paper has been leaked in NEET-UG. This blatant lie is being told to millions of youth. Their future is being ruined.

The Ministry of Education has said that irregularities and cheating have taken place only at a few places. Congress has demanded that the NEET-UG exam be conducted again. It has also demanded an investigation of all paper leak scams under the supervision of the Supreme Court and strict action against the culprits.
NEET UG counselling takes place in multiple stages, including a stray vacancy round and a mop-up round. Candidates who score well in the medical entrance exam will first have to register for NEET UG counselling and pay the fees, fill and lock choices, upload documents and report in person to the seat allotted institute.
