NATO supports the unity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and condemns the provocative rhetoric of the constituent entity of BiH – Republika Srpska.
This was stated by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg at a joint press conference following a meeting with Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapic at the bloc’s headquarters in Brussels.
“The Allies strongly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this regard, the provocative rhetoric in the Republika Srpska raises serious concerns, ”Stoltenberg said.
“The common structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina are important for the stability of the country. Of particular importance are the Armed Forces, one of the strongest multi-ethnic institutions in the country. NATO remains committed to strong political dialogue and practical cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina and continues to support the country’s reform efforts, “he added.
Stoltenberg also noted that Montenegro’s membership in NATO contributes to stability in the region.
Zdravko Krivokapic, in turn, said that Montenegro is a reliable partner of the alliance. According to him, by 2024 the country intends to increase defense spending and contributions to NATO.
