The Railway Ministry changed the name of the Vande Metro running between Ahmedabad and Bhuj to Namo Bharat Rapid Rail a few hours before its inauguration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail from Bhuj Railway Station at 4:15 pm today. PM Modi is currently present in Ahmedabad. The aim of the Rapid Rail is to increase ‘intercity connectivity’.
A railway spokesperson said that the ministry has decided to rename Vande Metro as Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. According to the Railway Ministry, while other metro trains cover only short distances, the Namo Bharat train will connect Ahmedabad to its surrounding cities. It has 12 coaches and seating capacity for 1,150 passengers. The Rapid Rail has many new facilities. Let’s know.

What is the specialty of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail
Namo Bharat Rapid Rail i.e. Vande Metro will cover the distance of 360 km between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in 5 hours 45 minutes. This train will stop at a total of 9 stations. Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will run at a maximum speed of 110 km per hour.
The train will have 12 AC coaches with centrally controlled automatic sliding doors, modular interiors, LED lighting, toilets equipped with vacuum technology, route map indicators, panoramic windows, CCTV, phone charging points and auto alert in case of smoke/fire and aerosol based fire extinguishing systems.

The Railway Ministry said that the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will be equipped with auto alarm in case of smoke and fire, aerosol based system to control fire, besides advanced safety features like armor to avoid collision and emergency lights.
According to the ministry, compared to suburban trains, Vande Metro coaches will have modern and ejector-based vacuum evacuation toilets. It is being told that these trains have been designed for a comfortable journey of 3 to 4 hours. Vande train will connect all the cities within a radius of 150 km and will make train travel easier for the people living in these areas.
Bhuj Ahmedabad Vande Metro: Timings and Fares
Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will cover the distance of 359 km between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in 5 hours 45 minutes. During its journey on this route, this train will stop at 9 stations. It will leave Bhuj at 5:05 am and reach Ahmedabad Junction at 10:50 am. Its services for the general public will start from Ahmedabad on 17 September, i.e. tomorrow on the occasion of PM Modi’s birthday. The total fare for the journey between Ahmedabad and Bhuj will be Rs 455.
During his home state visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate Vande Bharat trains that will operate on routes including Kolhapur-Pune, Pune-Hubli, Nagpur-Secunderabad, Agra Cantt to Varanasi and Durg to Visakhapatnam. According to a PMO release, the first 20-coach Vande Bharat train will run between Varanasi and Delhi.
