The head of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has been officially appointed. Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum has been given the command of ISI as DG. From 20 November 2021, he will take over the responsibilities of DG ISI. According to the notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad, the current DG ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hameed will continue in his post till 19 November 2021. This appointment has brought both good and bad news for the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.
According to the report of Geo News, on Tuesday, Imran Khan held a meeting with the Chief of the Pakistan Army, General Qamar Javed Bajwa. According to sources, take this meeting later. General Faiz Hameed also joined. According to the report, there was a discussion regarding the internal law and order of the country in the meeting. During this, the trio also formally discussed internal and external security issues. After this, the notification of the official appointment of the new DG ISI was issued on Tuesday evening.

It was told in the tweet that this meeting was part of the ongoing process between the Army Chief and Imran Khan regarding the selection of the new DG ISI. There were reports of tension between Imran Khan and the army since the announcement of the appointment of the new ISI chief. This appointment is disappointing news for Imran Khan as he did not agree to the appointment of Nadeem Anjum for the post of DG ISI. Now it shows that once again the Pakistani Prime Minister’s pulse is not in front of the army.
Hameed paid the price for friendship with Taliban?
However, the continuation of Faiz Hameed in the post till November 19 is a matter of great relief for Imran Khan as it was one of his demands. The new ISI chief Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum is from the Punjab Regiment of the Pakistan Army and has served as the Karachi Corps Commander as well as the Commandant of the Command and Staff College Quetta. Anjum has conducted several operations in the restive Balochistan province of Pakistan. It is said that Nadeem has a lot of experience of war.
