My Dinh Stadium will not host a match at the AFF Cup (Asean Cup) 2024. This is also the first time in AFF Cup history since 2000 until now that the Vietnamese team will not use My Dinh Stadium when participating. attend the Southeast Asia tournament.
In 2008 and 2018, My Dinh Stadium was the place where the Vietnamese team was crowned champion of the AFF Cup. Unfortunately, due to objective reasons of organizing 2 music concerts, this stadium cannot guarantee the quality of the turf as required by the Southeast Asian Football Federation and the AFF Cup organizers.
But most likely, in March 2025, My Dinh Stadium will return to football fans. This is also the time when the Vietnamese team led by coach Kim Sang-sik aims to win tickets to the 2027 Asian Cup finals. According to the match schedule, Vietnam will meet Laos on March 25, 2025. This is also the first of a total of 6 matches that “Golden Star Warriors” participate in in this final Asian Cup qualifying round.
Vietnam also hosts Nepal (October 9) and Malaysia (March 31, 2026) in the remaining two matches at home. It is expected that My Dinh Stadium will also be the venue for the above competitions, as it is the highest level international standard football stadium that Vietnam owns. Interspersed with the host matches, Vietnam also played away games, against Malaysia (June 10), Nepal (October 14), and Laos (November 18).
Returning to the AFF Cup, the Vietnamese team will compete at Viet Tri Stadium in the second leg of the semi-finals against Singapore on the evening of December 29. If they reach the final, the team will continue to use Viet Tri stadium in the match on January 2, 2025.
