New Delhi: Police have cracked down on an app that says Muslim women are for sale. Delhi Police has registered a case against the app makers. He was charged with aggression against women (IPC 354A). GitHub, a popular open source platform, has been issued a police notice. The app was removed after police filed a case and protests intensified. The app worked by collecting pictures of many girls and young women. Images of journalists, activists and artists were also found to have been used for propaganda. This information was released through GitHub. The information came out after several people shared pictures of women on Twitter using the app’s feature. The image of the girls collected from various social media was used for this. When the app opens, you will be asked to click on ‘Fine Your Sullivan of the Day’. After clicking on it, a picture of a Muslim girl titled ‘Sulli of the Day’ and her information on social media will be available. Apple visitors will be able to share this information on social media. The information came out after hundreds of pictures of women were shared in this way. Apple used to describe women as ‘deals’ today. Many women have blocked social media because of the leaked images. An unnamed young woman told the BBC it was “scary” to have personal information leaked. The company said in a statement that it had suspended the operation of the app following the release of the information. It is estimated that the app aims to misrepresent Muslims and women. Even when Muslim women are said to be for sale, there have been no such transactions. Gitbah CEO Erica Brescia tweeted that the app had been removed from GitHub. The Delhi Women’s Commission had issued a notice to the Delhi Police in the incident. The Women’s Commission has asked for an explanation by July 12.
