Mumbai Boat Accident: 13 died, 72 people were rescued, boat overturned near Gateway of India
Last Wednesday, the Neelkamal boat going to Elephanta collided with a small navy boat coming at a high speed near the Gate of India in Mumbai and met with an accident. After the collision, the boat full of passengers overturned in the sea. According to the information received, there were more than 100 passengers including the crew on board the boat. After this accident, rescue work was started in which 72 people have been rescued while 13 people including three soldiers have died.

After the incident, Mumbai Police has registered an FIR at Colaba Police Station against the Navy speed boat driver and other responsible people in connection with the Neelkamal boat capsizing incident. FIR has been registered under sections 106(1), 125 (A) (B), 282, 324 (3)(5) of BNS. This FIR has been lodged on the complaint of survivor Natharam Chaudhary, 22 years, resident of Sakinaka Mumbai.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of life and property and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each deceased. Additionally, President Draupadi Murmu expressed grief over the deaths of those who lost their lives in the Mumbai boat accident near the Gateway of India. Speaking to the media, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “Final information about the missing people will be available tomorrow morning. The bereaved families will be given a compensation of Rs 5 lakh from the CM Relief Fund. The entire incident will be investigated by the police and navy.”
