Mullah Baradar: UN Humanitarian Affairs Agency chief meets Taliban leader Mullah Baradar, assured of Afghanistan’s help

In the midst of all this, Martin Griffiths, the head of the United Nations (UN) Humanitarian Affairs Agency, has met Taliban leader Mullah Baradar. During the meeting in Kabul’s foreign ministry, Martin Griffiths said that the United Nations will continue its support and cooperation with Afghanistan.

UN will continue aid to Afghanistan
UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths tweeted after meeting Mullah Baradar. He wrote- ‘I called on the leadership of the Taliban to reaffirm the United Nations’ commitment to providing fair humanitarian aid and security to millions of needy people in Afghanistan.’

Red Cross chief arrives in Afghanistan on 3-day visit
The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer has arrived in Afghanistan on a 3-day visit. After arriving in Afghanistan on Sunday, Peter plans to visit medical facilities and rehabilitation centers for victims of violence. Apart from this, he will also meet the employees of ICRC. The ICRC chief will also meet with local Afghan officials.

There were reports of Mulla Baradar getting injured.
However, on Sunday there were reports of Haqqani network leaders Anas Haqqani and Khalil Haqqani clashing with Taliban leaders Mullah Baradar and Mullah Yacoub. Now reports have claimed that Baradar has been injured in a bullet fired by the Haqqani faction during this fight. It is being told that the Haqqani network is seeking a large stake in the government and the post of Defense Minister, while the Taliban is not ready to give that much. However, both the claims could not be confirmed.

Taliban stopped some planes from flying
The Taliban stopped at least four private planes from taking off from Afghanistan trying to take hundreds of people to other countries. There have been conflicting reports regarding these planes being stopped from flying. America is also under increasing pressure to help those wanting to leave Afghanistan. An official at the airport in Mazar-e-Sharif, a city in the northern part of Afghanistan, said those intending to fly were Afghan nationals and many of them did not have visas or passports, which prevented them from leaving the country.
