Mr. Biden said that the above characters are civil servants dedicated to the country but are threatened with criminal prosecution. “They are public servants who have served our country with honor and excellence and do not deserve to be the target of unreasonable and politically motivated prosecution,” Mr. Biden wrote.
Mr. Biden did not mention anything about Mr. Trump but it was made right before Mr. Trump took office. According to AP, Mr. Trump once warned many political opponents and those who sought to accuse him of his efforts to reverse his 2020 election defeat as well as his role in the incident on January 6, 2021. Many of the people nominated by Mr. Trump to the cabinet are those who support his views on the 2020 election as well as pledge to punish those involved in investigating the incoming president.
The US President often issues pardons at the end of his term, but mainly for those who have been convicted, not for those who have not yet been investigated.
Mr. Biden noted that the advance pardon should not be misunderstood as an admission of wrongdoing by the above individuals. “Our country owes these public servants a debt of gratitude for their tireless commitment to our country,” Mr. Biden declared.
Mr. Anthony Fauci was the official coordinating efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic under Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden. Mr. Fauci disagreed with Mr. Trump about fighting the Pandemic and became the target of attacks from the right.
Mr. Mark Milley served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Mr. Trump but later had a conflict with the leader. Mr. Milley thanked Mr. Biden because the pardon helped him no longer worry about revenge.
