Moscow hosts tripartite meeting to discuss developments in Afghanistan

AA / Moscow

The Russian capital, Moscow, hosted a tripartite meeting between Russia, Pakistan and China on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the meeting was attended by special envoys from the three countries in Afghanistan.

The statement added that the participants exchanged views on common security threats and expressed their common interest in providing emergency humanitarian and economic assistance to Afghanistan.

By August 15, the Taliban had taken control of almost all of Afghanistan as US forces withdrew from the country.
