Good news is coming from Uttar Pradesh regarding the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The UP government has announced to give an additional subsidy of up to Rs 30,000 to electricity consumers for installing solar panels on the roof. The central government is already giving a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. In such a situation, electricity consumers have an opportunity to avail the benefit of Rs 1 lakh 8 lakh.
UP government is giving additional subsidy on free electricity scheme
In a post on the social media platform X, the UP government said that the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is being run to provide relief to the common man from electricity bills. In the same post, it is further written that electricity consumers are being given subsidy by the central and state governments for installing 2KW, 3KW, 4KW, 5KW solar plants on the roof of their houses.

Under this scheme, by installing a solar plant on the roof, about two-thirds of the electricity bill can be saved. If you are a resident of Uttar Pradesh and want to take advantage of this scheme, then you can apply by visiting the official website of PM Surya Ghar pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Apart from this, application can also be made from the solar rooftop portal solarrooftop.gov.in.

Apply like this to get the benefit of PM Suryaghar Yojana
Firstly visit the official website of Solar Rooftop or PM Suryaghar solarrooftop.gov.in or pmsuryaghar.gov.in
Now select the state, district, name of the electricity distribution company and fill in the customer number i.e. customer account number given in the electricity bill. And click on the Next button.
In the next step, you will be asked for your mobile number. Enter the number which is active. You will receive an OTP on the given number for verification. Fill in the OTP carefully. After this, enter your alternate email ID and the mandatory captcha code and click on the Proceed button.
As soon as you do this, some details related to the customer will appear automatically filled. In this step, information related to the candidate and his address can be seen. If any details need to be updated, then click on the Refresh Customer Data option appearing in green color on the screen. Now proceed further by filling the latest details asked for.
In the next step, based on the database, all information related to the electricity distribution company including the customer account number will be visible on the screen.
Now fill in the category and proposed solar plant capacity (in kW) under Solar Rooftop Details. You can use the Solar Rooftop Calculator for this. Proceed further by clicking on Save and Next button
Finally you will be asked to upload the electricity bill. If you have this document available, then take its soft copy in JPG, JPEG or PDF format and click on the Choose File button and select and upload it from the folder of the device where the soft copy of the electricity bill is kept. Remember that the size of the electricity bill file will be accepted only up to 500 kilobytes. If the size is more than this, it will not be uploaded. After this, click on the Final Submission button visible on the screen in yellow background.
Wait for the application to be approved. Once the feasibility approval is received, get the solar plant installed by any vendor registered with your discom Once you get the approval, you can get solar panels installed on your rooftop from any vendor registered with the power distribution company.
Once the installation is complete, submit the solar plant details on the official website of PM Surya Ghar and apply for net meter
After installation of net meter and inspection by the company, a certificate will be generated from the portal.
As soon as you get the certificate, submit the bank details and cancelled cheque through the official website of PM Suryaghar. After completion of this step, the subsidy will be credited to your bank account within 30 days.
