Mohali accident: Multi-storey building collapsed, rescue operation continues even after 16 hours, bodies of two found so far
A major accident took place in Mohali, Punjab on Saturday (21st December) evening. A multi-storey building collapsed here in Sohna area. As soon as information about the accident was received, police and administrative officials reached the spot and relief and rescue operations were started. According to initial information, bodies of two people have so far been recovered from the debris of the building. Among them is the body of a woman. The rescue operation by Army and NDRF teams is still going on at the spot. ,
The woman was evacuated yesterday and died in hospital. She has been identified as 20-year-old Drishti Verma, who was originally from Himachal. The deceased youth has been identified as Abhishek, who was a resident of Ambala. Let us tell you that many people are feared buried under the debris.
It is being told that excavation was going on in the basement of another building located near the building, due to which the foundation of this building became weak and it collapsed. A gym was running in the building that collapsed and many people were present there at the time of the incident. As soon as information about the accident was received, Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav and Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
As part of the rescue operation, several excavation machines have been deployed to remove the debris. Officials said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is carrying out the operation. Along with ambulances, medical teams have also been deployed.
