Biden’s meeting with the leaders of India, Japan and Australia at the White House will give the US president an opportunity to focus on the most important of his foreign policy targets, the Pacific region.
US President Joe Biden will hold the first one-on-one meeting today with the leaders of the Indo-Pacific Alliance, known as the Quad Summit. This is the first time that today Prime Minister Modi and Joe Biden are meeting as President.
However, he has faced a lot of criticism in the last few days on this issue. But after this meeting, it is believed that their problems related to this issue will be reduced to a great extent. America will try to convey its proximity to India and a strong message to China through this meeting.
Indeed, Biden’s meeting with the leaders of India, Japan and Australia at the White House will give the US President an opportunity to focus on the most important foreign policy target, the Pacific, which in America’s view is China’s deterrent economic functioning and the region. facing the challenge posed by destabilizing military maneuvers.
The talks between the leaders of the four countries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi from India, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and US President Joe Biden, will focus on climate change, response to the corona pandemic and cyber security. Ahead of the summit, the governments of Japan and India welcomed the recent announcement that the US would provide nuclear-powered submarines to Australia as part of a separate new alliance with Britain and Australia.

On this, France expressed its displeasure and on this issue it has got the support of the diplomats of the European Union. At the same time, the Secretary General of NATO has also given his own reaction on this. He did not take sides but insisted on building solidarity about the main goals of the alliance.
This is the first time that these leaders involved in the Quad countries will face-to-face. Earlier this summit has been happening virtually only. This meeting of the Quad countries is considered very important in the context of the Indian Pacific Ocean. At the same time, it is being seen as a new and better option against China’s growing power.
Quad i.e. Quadrilateral Security Dialogues is a group of four countries, which includes India, Japan, Australia and America. Its purpose is to fight maritime security, climate change, the corona Pandemic, and at the same time, the Quad is also being considered as a group of countries challenging China’s growing power in the South China Sea. At the same time, its purpose also includes taking care of the interests of the maritime borders of these four countries.

Actually, the beginning of the quad can be considered from the tsunami in the Indian Ocean in the year 2004. Then India, Japan, Australia and the United States carried out relief and rescue operations and sent relief materials on a large scale to the region. However, after this the group was disbanded, but in the year 2006, the then Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, proposed to start this group again. He said that like-minded countries should join this group and cooperate in the security of the Indo-Pacific Ocean.
After this, in the year 2007, Shinzo Abe resigned from the post of Prime Minister. On the other hand, in Australia, David Red became the Prime Minister. Kevin was called a critic of Quod and he withdrew his hand from Quod under pressure from China. Due to this the group was again disbanded in the year 2008. In the year 2017, Japan once again proceeded to introduce Quod. The first working level meeting was held in Manila. In the year 2020, India, America, Japan also joined Australia in the Malabar Naval Exercise.
Quad is not a formal alliance but a soft group. It does not have the power to decide. Such decisions are taken in NATO countries or in the United Nations. The group works through summits, meetings, information sharing and military exercises. There is no complicated structure of this alliance. Any country can leave this group at any time.
