Minister Karaismailoğlu: We made TCDD the 6th high-speed train operator in Europe and the 8th in the world

Karaismailoğlu stated that they are proud of starting a project that is very important for Istanbul today, that embraces history and is sensitive to the environment and people, and said:

“We are in Sirkeci, the center of our mega city with its historical beauties and touristic attraction. This place is home to labor, production and sweat. It is a junction and meeting point for Istanbulites and for our foreign guests. It is entrusted to us by Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han, the Historic Peninsula, Suriçi… For this reason, we planned the Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Rail System far beyond being a transportation project.With its promenade, bicycle and e-scoter tracks, areas where economic and socio-cultural activities will be carried out, at the same time, it will increase the touristic attraction of Istanbul even more. We have made it a project that will give Istanbul residents a breath of fresh air.

As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we evaluate the transportation and communication systems in our country as a whole. We see the road, air, sea, rail and communication sectors as systems that complement, affect and complement each other. During our governments, we have made Turkey a leader in its region and an effective transit and connection point in the world in all transportation modes.”

“6.5 million passengers are transported daily on the rail systems built and put into service by our Ministry”

Adil Karaismailoğlu said that they have given priority to railway investments since 2003, and that as the first job, they have renewed all of their existing railway networks.

Noting that they have increased the length of the railway to 12,803 kilometers, Karaismailoğlu stated that the construction of 3 thousand 500 kilometers of new railways is still continuing.

Karaismailoğlu stated that since 2003, they have increased the signaled railway line length by 172 percent and the electric line length by 180 percent, and continued as follows:

“We continue to work intensively to make all of our railways electrically signaled. Between 2003 and 2020, we invested 212 billion liras for railway investments. International transit and transportation in the middle belt of the Silk Railway Line, which stretches from China to England. We became a logistics center.We strengthened our effectiveness in our region with our Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line.We made TCDD the 6th high-speed train operator in Europe and the 8th in the world.

We continue our success in intercity railroad operations across the country, as well as in urban rail systems. 312 kilometers of the urban rail system, which has a length of 812 kilometers in 12 provinces across Turkey, was built by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. In the rail systems built and put into service by our Ministry, 6.5 million daily and 2 billion 393 million passengers are transported annually.

“We continue on our way with the mind of the state”

Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, conveyed the happiness they experienced as they saved the citizen from the traffic ordeal with the projects put into service and enabled them to reach their jobs and families safely and comfortably.

Noting that besides Istanbul, they continue the construction of a 185-kilometer rail system on 14 separate lines in Bursa, Ankara, Kocaeli, Konya, Kayseri and Gaziantep, Karaismailoğlu continued:

“Our rail system construction works on 7 lines in Istanbul continue intensively. These are Gayrettepe-Kağıthane-Eyüp-Istanbul Airport metro, Küçükçekmece Halkalı-Başakşehir-Arnavutköy-İstanbul Airport metro, Pendik-Tavşantepe-Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro, Bakırköy ( İDO)-Bahçelievler-Güngören-Bağcılar (Kirazlı) metro, Başakşehir-Çam Sakura Hospital-Kayaşehir metro, Altunizade-Ferah Mahallesi-Çamlıca metro and Kazlıçeşme – Sirkeci Urban Transportation and Recreation Project that we launched today.The total length of these 7 projects is 103. 0.3 kilometers.

We will continue our work for our nation, without heeding what the opposition says, without polemics, without compromising our work policy. When our projects are completed, Istanbul’s rail system length will increase to 354.3 kilometers. We will continue to spend our energy to solve the problems of Istanbul and Istanbulites. We will never allow the theft of labor by those who do not do the work that is incumbent on them and pour excavations on the ongoing subway construction. Opposition is what this mindset does best. They said ‘we do not want’ to Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Istanbul Airport and Osmangazi Bridge. They also opposed the Izmir Highway, the Northern Marmara Highway and of course the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge.”

Karaismailoğlu said that they did not take these non-serious and short-term mentalities into account and continued on their way with the mind of the state.

“We continue to weave our country’s railway network”

Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that railways were the second mode of transportation in which the most investments were made among the investments made in transportation and communication during the AK Party governments, and noted that as of today, the railway is the first mode of transportation in which the most investments are made.

While doing this, Karaismailoğlu said that they produce all the machinery and equipment needed by the railways with domestic and national resources in Turkey.

“With the advantage of our geopolitical position, we are the leading country in the region in freight and passenger transportation on the East-West line, Silk Railway, and the Middle Corridor. We are making efforts to prioritize our country as an advantageous transit point on the railway line stretching from Beijing to London. Istanbul With the Marmaray railway crossing, we attached the golden ring of this line.

With Marmaray, one of the most important projects in the world, we connected two continents under the sea. Thus, in 2013, we put Marmaray, one of the world’s most original and most important urban transportation projects, built with the latest technology, which is a great solution to the public transportation problem in Istanbul, to the service of the people of Istanbul and all of Turkey. They said ‘We don’t want to, they can’t’, of course we did. Thus, the number of passengers using Marmaray to date has exceeded 600 million. Since April 17, 2020, when the first freight train passed, 1,108 trains have carried 990 thousand tons of freight over Marmaray.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu also gave information about Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Urban Transportation and Recreation Focused Transformation Project.

Karaismailoğlu stated that the project is a pedestrian-oriented, environmentally sensitive revitalization of an idle 8.5 kilometer rail system line between Kazlıçeşme and Sirkeci.

“Our project will add value to the value of our Istanbul with its new green area of ​​74 thousand square meters, 7.5 kilometers of bicycle and 6.5 kilometers of pedestrian paths, 10 thousand 120 square meters of square and recreation areas and 6 thousand square meters of closed social and cultural area. In addition to this, our project includes 27 art structures, 9 pedestrian and 12 road crossings, 3 pedestrian and 1 road overpass.In short, our project is a rail system with 8 stations between Kazlıçeşme and Sirkeci. It is a pedestrian-oriented new generation transportation project.

With this project, which we aim to complete in the first quarter of 2023 and put it at the disposal of Istanbul residents, we will also provide significant economic savings. With the completion of the project, we will save more than 786 million Euros in total, including 425 million Euros in terms of road maintenance and operation, 117 million Euros due to the reduction in environmental impacts, and 243 million Euros as time savings, in the 30-year period between 2023 and 2053.

“We do not derive political profits through perception operations by relying on the services of others.”

Minister Karaismailoğlu, beyond the calculable savings and earnings; He said that besides the comfortable, safe and comfortable journey, they created green spaces where they can breathe.

Emphasizing that the social gain of this cannot be calculated, Karaismailoğlu made the following evaluations:

“We do not rely on the services of others and derive political profit through perception operations. We do not refrain from the works that fall within our scope of duty and do not throw the burden on others. Despite those who neglect public transportation in the mega city, we work day and night to provide the service that Istanbul needs. With the works we have brought to Turkey, We continue to contribute to our country’s economy in many ways.With the completion of our rail systems, we will also provide great economic gains in issues that directly affect the environment such as fuel, carbon emissions and time.

As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we attach great importance to increasing the quality of life of our citizens, supporting their mental and physical health, and bringing these environmentally friendly systems to our country with the systems we have created, our legislation regulations and our incentive policies. We develop new product and service models and offer them to our nation. While realizing all these investments, we, as the public and private sectors, closely monitor the technological change experienced by the world and keep up with the pace of the age.”

Karaismailoğlu said that the project will make a great contribution to the smart and efficient mobility in the mega-city and will serve Istanbul and Turkey with a human-oriented, environmentally sensitive approach like other projects he has mentioned.
