Microsoft Big Announcement for India:Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella has announced large-scale investment plans in India. Nadella, who is on a visit to India, has said that Microsoft will provide training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to 1 crore people of India in the next 5 years. Along with this, the company will also invest $3 billion in India, which includes plans to strengthen cloud and AI infrastructure. Making this big announcement, Nadella said that “India is moving forward rapidly in terms of AI innovation. Microsoft’s investment will make it stronger.”
Preparation to make India an AI-first country
During the Microsoft AI Tour held in Bengaluru, Satya Nadella announced this ambitious plan of Microsoft. The company is working on a plan to equip 1 crore Indians with AI skills by 2030. For this, Microsoft has started an initiative called “ADVANTA(I)GE India”. The aim of this initiative is to promote AI education and opportunities at various social and economic levels. Nadella said, “This investment will not only promote technological development but will also help the people and organizations of the country to make maximum use of the benefits of AI.”

Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, lauding the initiative said, “India’s youth and tech talent in the field of AI are playing an important role in shaping the future of the country. Collaboration with companies like Microsoft is “It will prove to be a milestone in this direction.”

Big investment in cloud and AI infrastructure
Microsoft plans to invest $3 billion to develop cloud and AI infrastructure in India. Under this investment, the company will set up new data centers in the country. Punit Chandhok, President, Microsoft India and South Asia, said, “Over the past year, we have worked to bring AI to the ground in India. The latest announcement further strengthens our confidence and commitment in this direction.”

1 crore people will be equipped with AI skills
Under the ADVANTA(I)GE India initiative, Microsoft has so far trained 24 lakh Indians in AI skills. Of these, 65% were women and 74% of the participants were from tier II and tier III cities. In the sequel to this initiative, Microsoft has set a target of training 1 crore more Indians by 2030.

Microsoft says that it has also taken steps to ensure the stability of AI. The company has designed new data centers for this. Microsoft has also signed long-term contracts for the use of renewable energy and is also working towards saving the environment.

AI Innovation Network: New initiative for startups
Microsoft Research Lab (MSR) has started AI Innovation Network. This initiative aims to develop the AI ecosystem in India by providing support to digital natives and startups. Prateek Maheshwari, co-founder of Physics Wala, said in this context, “Our collaboration with Microsoft will help in making education more personalized and effective.”
