The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are just around the corner and Mexico is preparing to be represented by a group of athletes who will seek to raise the name of the country. This year’s competition represents a historic milestone as it is the first time that the group is made up mostly of female athletes. However, the path has not been free of obstacles, even from the organizations responsible for the sport, such as the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade). A pair of Mexican divers were forced to become naturalized citizens of the Dominican Republic to participate in the games, due to the lack of support in Mexico.
These are some of the Mexican athletes who will compete in 24 different disciplines, as well as the schedules of their competitions and where all the excitement of this sporting event can be followed live.
How is the medal table going?
Mexico has won two medals and this places it in 24th position in the Olympic table. The first was obtained by the women’s archery team. This medal makes history, since the Mexican team had never won a medal in this category, although it did in the discipline. The second medal is also historic. Judoka Prisca Awiti won a silver in judo, category -67 kilograms. This sport did not seem to be one of the national delegation’s strengths, but the 28-year-old athlete had a phenomenal performance.
