Measures to be toughened in Georgia due to COVID-19


Against the background of an increase in the number of cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Georgia, measures are again tightened.

The decision to reintroduce a number of bans across the country was made at a coordination meeting to combat COVID-19.

In particular, from August 14 to September 4 in cities such as Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Rustavi, it is prohibited to use public transport.

In addition, a ban is imposed on the holding of festivals, entertainment events, concerts and sports competitions. Also, the operation of children’s entertainment centers is prohibited.

Restaurants and cafes will be able to receive visitors until 23:00.

In Georgia, 5 579 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected over the past 24 hours. 50 deaths were registered.

The total number of people infected with COVID-19 in the country is 477,264. In general, 6,371 people have died due to the dangerous virus.
