the body of María Elena González, the 11-year-old Guatemalan minor who was raped and murdered in the apartment he shared with his father in Pasadena, Texas, he was discovered by the man in a garbage bag inside a laundry basket which was put under a bed in a room.
This was revealed by John A. Bruegger, Pasadena Police Chiefat a press conference last week.
The find was recorded at about 3 pm on Saturday, August 12.
That day, shortly before 10 am, the minor’s father left her alone in the unit because he had to go to work.
González told local media that, minutes after leaving homeat 1004 Main Street, received a text from his daughter stating that someone was knocking on the door. Her father instructed her not to open.
After that exchange, the minor stopped communicating. Her father asked other relatives to check the girl’s status, but they did not find her when they entered her apartment.
About five hours later, When the father returned from work, he found his daughter dead.under the bed.
María Elena died victim of suffocation by strangulation and blunt force head and neck trauma. She was also raped.
Regarding the facts, was captured and arrested in Shreveport, LouisianaSaturday, Juan Carlos Garcia-Rodriguez, 18 years old.
A key found at the crime scenecorresponding to a nearby apartment was the key that led to his identification as a suspect.
Previously, he too Guatemalan had been identified as a person of interest and the authorities sought to interview him.
However, two days after the discovery of the body, García-Rodríguez abandoned the property where he lived with other peopleand his whereabouts were not known until last Saturday when he was arrested.
He faces capital murder charges. Authorities are in the process of extraditing the Central American to Texas.
