- Chinese spy access to UK Parliament, Mi-5 warns
- The ruckus of the British intelligence agency, the speaker sent a letter to the MPs
- Has given huge amount to many parties and MPs, picture with former UK PM
Britain’s intelligence agency MI-5 has issued a warning to lawmakers about a female spy from China. In this warning it has been said that a woman who donated to Britain’s Labor Party is a spy of China. This woman is also said to have a close relationship with a former UK MP. MI-5 said a woman named Christine Lee was being monitored by security agencies. He is suspected of spying for the Chinese Communist Party.
The detective has not been arrested yet
The British intelligence agency said that this Chinese spy has not yet been arrested. In such a situation, he is not being expelled from the country at the moment. The Parliamentary Security Team of the Speaker of the British Parliament sent a warning message to all MPs and colleagues in Westminster today. It said that Christine Li was deliberately engaging in activities of political interference on behalf of the United Front Affairs Department of the Communist Party of China.
This spy is attached to the Chinese embassy
The speaker has made it clear that at present, no politician in Britain is suspected to be involved in any criminal cases. Christine Lee is a London-based lawyer. She has also been the former Chief Legal Adviser to the Chinese Embassy in London. She is currently the Legal Adviser to the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs. She is also the secretary of the Inter-Party China Group in Westminster.
Millions of donations given to Labor Party and one of its MPs
The Chinese spy has donated more than £500,000 to Barry Gardiner, an aide to top Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn, to work with his son Daniel Wilkes in his office to date. It is also reported that she has donated over hundreds of thousands of pounds in several pieces to the Labor Party. Questions were asked about its funding five years ago but no action was taken.
Good relations of this spy with other parties as well
In addition to the Labor Party, this Chinese spy firm donated £5,000 to the Liberal Democrats in 2005. In 2013, Christine Lee donated £5,000 again to party leader Ed Davey. At that time Ed Davey was the Minister of Energy in the then Coalition Government. He also has links with the Conservative Party. She has met David Cameron several times while he was prime minister. In January 2019, the then premier Theresa May was given the Point of Light Award in recognition of her contribution to good relations with China through the British Sugar Project.
MI-5 informed the Parliament Speaker
Sir Ian Duncan Smith, former leader of the Conservative Party, told MPs this afternoon that MI5 had contacted Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle about the matter. After which he has warned the members of Parliament that agents of the Chinese government working with the MP are also active in Britain. In such a situation, special care needs to be taken to remove them from here.
Chinese spies are present in many countries including America
Not only Britain, China’s spies are also spread in France, America and the Netherlands. France issued a warning in 2011, saying that China was deploying a large amount of spies for honeytrap in its country. After this, the relations between the two countries also soured. Whereas Britain and the Netherlands made similar allegations against China in 2016.
