PM Narendra ModiThe first Prime Minister to lower the dignity of public discourse says Manmohan Singh : Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of giving ‘hate speeches’ during election campaigns and lowering the dignity of the post of Prime Minister along with public discourse. Manmohan Singh has said that Congress is the only party which can take the country on the path of development and ensure a progressive future for all where democracy and the Constitution will be protected. He has said this in an appeal issued to the voters of Punjab before the voting in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.

Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to the people of Punjab

In his letter to the voters of Punjab, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accused the Modi government of forcibly imposing the Agniveer scheme on the country’s armed forces. He said, “The BJP thinks that the value of patriotism, valor and service is only 4 years. This shows their fake nationalism.” Targeting PM Modi, Manmohan Singh said, “I am keeping a close eye on the political dialogue during this election campaign. Modi ji is indulging in hate speeches, which are completely divisive. Modi ji is the first Prime Minister who has lowered the dignity of public dialogue and thus reduced the seriousness of the post of Prime Minister.”

I have never differentiated one community from another: Manmohan Singh

The former Prime Minister said, “No Prime Minister before this has used such hateful, unparliamentary and uncivilized words with the aim of targeting a particular section of the society or the opposition. He has also made some wrong statements for me. I have never in my life separated one community from another. Only BJP has the copyright on this.”

The people of the country are watching everything: Manmohan Singh

Prime Minister Modi has accused Dr. Manmohan Singh of saying that while he was the Prime Minister, Muslims have the first right on the resources of the country. The former Prime Minister said that the people of India are watching all this. Manmohan Singh said, “This story of dehumanization has now reached its peak. Now it is our duty to save our beloved nation from these divisive forces.”

In the last 10 years, Narendra Modi and BJP have continuously hurt Punjab, Punjabis and Punjabi culture.

Congress shared Manmohan Singh’s letter

Sharing this letter of Manmohan Singh on social media, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote, “In the last 10 years, Narendra Modi and BJP have continuously wounded Punjab, Punjabis and Punjabiat. Congress’ guarantees will act as a balm for the wounds of the entire country including Punjab. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has made an emotional appeal to the people of Punjab.” The Congress party has also shared this letter from its official social media handle and wrote, “Appeal of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to the people of Punjab – ‘In the last 10 years, the BJP government has left no stone unturned to defame Punjab and Punjabiat. 750 farmers, most of whom were from Punjab, were martyred while waiting for months on the borders of Delhi. When he was not satisfied with sticks and rubber bullets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi insulted our farmers in Parliament by calling them ‘agitators’ and ‘parasites’. The only demand of the farmers was that the agricultural laws imposed on them without discussing with them should be withdrawn.”
